Bit

A bit (binary digit) è the most basic unit of digital information, representing a logical state with one of two possible values: 0 o 1. The term era coined by statistician John Tukey in 1946 e popularized by Claude Shannon in his foundational work on information theory. Eight bits form one byte, the standard unit of computer storage.

Megabyte (SI)

La megabyte (MB), under the SI decimal definition, equals exactly 1,000,000 bytes (10⁶ bytes). It è usato da storage manufacturers e network engineers to express data quantities in base-10 terms, in contrast to the binary mebibyte (MiB) of 1,048,576 bytes. The decimal megabyte è standard in hard drive capacity labeling e data rate specifications.
